Chris Mansbridge - Drums

Chris has been drumming for over 25 years! Chris’ work has taken him touring throughout the UK, Europe, Asia and America, and he is a graduate from Drumtech Drum and Percussion school London, UK. Chris currently plays with UK metal outfit Heart Of  A Coward, but he also has various recording sessions, tours, & releases on his musical CV, plus he has worked directly with bands such as Fellsilent and Enter Shikari. His experience spans a wide range of musical genres, and he has a passion to inspire and guide aspiring drummers on their path to becoming a better player.

Kev Hickman - Drums

Kev has been playing drums professionally for over 12 years and is one of the founders of Rhythm Room, his work with blues and rock musicians has taken him to Brazil, Canada, the USA and almost every country in Western Europe. He has supported Slash, Deep Purple, The Darkness, Joe Satriani and Magnum on international tours and has recorded with members of Deep Purple and Robert Plant's band. 


Kev has been teaching for 10 years and he teaches at six schools all across Beds, Herts and Bucks including his students at Rhythm Room. He has over 50 weekly students of all ages and a 100% exam pass rate with all of his students from grade 1 to 8. This wealth of experience makes him a very versatile and enthusiastic teacher, whether you're a beginner to the instrument or a gigging drummer Kev will happily guide you through every step in becoming a better musician.

Ali Wilson - Guitar & Piano

Alistair has been playing guitar for over twenty years. As a two-time graduate of both the Academy of Contemporary Music and the Los Angeles Music Academy (now LACM), Alistair has studied directly under a powerhouse of renowned guitarists such as Frank Gambale and Guthrie Govan. As a player, he has worked with Grammy-nominated and Brit Award-winning producer Jake Gosling, Emmy-nominated producer/composer Philip Giffin, and Puerto-Rican pop star Noelia. Alistair has worked directly with some of the biggest names in rock music (Slipknot, Korn, Killswitch Engage, Gojira and more). He is also an accomplished keyboard player of over twenty years. 

Alistair has over ten years of teaching experience and covers the entire spectrum of contemporary styles. In addition to improving your lead and rhythm playing, Alistair teaches "musicality" which focuses on the best approaches and attitudes towards what you play in any style, so as you improve you don't just get faster and tidier, but smarter too.

Dave Forster - Drums

Dave has been playing drums for over 20 years, with over 15 years as a professional musician. He has worked with original artists touring and recording in America and Europe. Dave graduated from Drum Tech in 2006 with a BMus(hons) in Popular Music Performance and it is the knowledge he has gained and developed that he passes on to his students. Dave currently does recording sessions from his studio, The Rockin' Horse Recording Studio, Northamptonshire, for a wide range of artists, and is also on the live circuit with variety of different acts.

Sam Wilthew - Guitar & Piano

Sam is an accomplished guitarist and musician who boasts significant experience in both performance and song-writing despite his career still being in its youth. Sam passed his University of West London Acoustic Guitar grade 8 qualification with distinction and has since collaborated with several recording artists - including most recently working on the EP launch ‘Howl' by Jack Boyes and the debut Album ‘Silver' by emerging funk/pop artist Timothy.

Sam has performed on the stage in a variety of diverse musical settings with a range of different bands and musicians. This means he has enjoyed playing lead guitar at functions such as weddings, charity events, album launches, large conferences and the local live music scene in Bedfordshire. Sam’s youth and confidence as a musician means he is great at connecting with students of all ages and he is keen to pass on his knowledge to others as well as perform.

James Hansford-White - Drums

James has been playing drums for over two decades and has been performing in bands from an early age. Whilst studying Audio Production at university he toured the UK with a heavy metal outfit blending his passion for education and live performance. James is passionate about drum education, both personally and as a tutor. He has been awarded a Grade 8 with Distinction in drumming and continues to push his skill and knowledge by studying with great drummers such as JP Bouvet and Dave Elitch in order to provide a rich experience for his students.

James’s passion for the instrument follows through into his versatile, relaxed and friendly teaching style. Covering all aspects of drumming in a multitude of genres, James is able to educate in a strong foundation of the basics, diversity in styles, modern concepts and techniques, through to an experienced drummer who wants to hone efficient practice methods and more advanced techniques.

Will Thomson - Guitar

Will is both an academically qualified musician and seasoned performer. Graduating from The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (London), he achieved a first-class Ba Hons in Creative Musicianship Guitar, and prior to this, attained his Grade 8 guitar qualification. Will’s musical career begun as a session guitarist; he has recorded in some of London’s top studios, such as Tileyard and Metropolis, and collaborated with a range of respected names in song writing.


Will also highly enjoys performing live and boasts experience of working with artists associated with BBC Introducing and Island Records. Expanding his skillset and sharing his knowledge, Will now aims to inspire and nurture students. He has a dedicated passion for the instrument, which he delivers in an informative and friendly style, encouraging and dynamizing his students through their journeys. 

Chloe Coleman - Vocals

Chloe is a Musical Theatre trained mezzo soprano with a 2:1 degree in Music and Musical Theatre. Having been in productions including We Will Rock You, Godspell, Grease and Decade, Chloe thrives on performance and has represented the Bicester Twinning Association (in Nantes, France) by performing a mix of Pop and Musical Theatre. A keen teacher, Chloe also educates with organisations in Leamington Spa and Northamptonshire, teaching both singing and acting. She has also directed a Choir and run her own a capella group.

Extremely passionate about singing and performing with a strong technique and confidence, Chloe helps pupils grow in confidence – whether singing for fun or preparing for exams – by finding suitable repertoire which will both challenge and showcase the student’s ability whilst building their confidence.

Nicola Lyons - Piano & Violin

Nicola began her playing career with the Fosbrook Folk Education Trust in Stockport (directed by Liza Austin-Strange MBE) where from an early age she learned to play both classical violin and folk fiddle as well as piano.

In addition to the violin and piano, Nicola is also an accomplished clog dancer. Formerly a dancer with The Demon Barbers, she performed at many of the major UK folk festivals as well as taking part in their acclaimed folk and hip-hop dance show 'Time Gentlemen, Please'.

She is currently a member of alternative folk quartet, 4Square, who have appeared at many festivals in the UK, Europe and Canada, including Fairport’s 2009 Cropredy Convention, before an audience of 20,000. They went on to sell every last copy of their debut album, 20.20 Manchester, becoming The Cropredy Convention’s 2nd biggest selling band of all time.

Adam Pyke - Bass Guitar

Adam is an experienced Multi-instrumentalist who specialises in Bass Guitar. Having studied under renowned music educators such as Joe Hubbard and Paul Turner (Jamiroquai) at the Academy of Contempory Music in Guildford, Adam brings a robust level of both technical and theoretical knowledge to his lessons. A professional Touring Musician, he has played in a wide variety of contexts and styles – from Blues Rock with the award-winning band Catfish to Modern Progressive metal with Ending Paths. Armed with a wide knowledge of musical styles, Adam is a versatile teacher who always ensures lessons relevant to his students by holding their interest and enabling them play the songs they most enjoy.

Tom Oldfield - Guitar (peripatetic school lessons only)

Learned musician Tom has been playing guitar for over 10 years. His academic musical career has seen him study professional musicianship with a focus on guitar at undergraduate level with the British Institute of Modern Music (Brighton), followed by a postgraduate course in teaching and learning. This induced his interest in teaching guitar and he has been tutoring on a one-to-one basis ever since.


Whilst undertaking these pursuits, Tom has been an active member of several bands, performing in a variety of venues in and around Brighton. His band has had notable success and featured on BBC introducing. Tom has also taken to the theatrical stage, when he played at Andrew Lloyd Webber's 'The Other Palace Theatre' for a production of the musical 'Spilt Milk'.


Tom’s students vary in age, ability and interest and he prides himself on his ability to adapt lessons to meet individual needs and desires. Tom is able to confidently and successfully educate students through their grades using the Rock School syllabus and has been the proud tutor of many students achieving this.

Rik Panesar - Guitar (peripatetic school lessons only)

With over a decade of experience, Rik is noted for his punk and 60’s influenced music as a guitarist and producer.


Emerging from the Yorkshire punk scene in 2004 with his band ‘The Forge’, Rik went on to front psychedelic rock band, Xylo. His achievements also include playing for artists such as VV Brown, Joelle Moses (X factor/The Bodyguard), Marlon Mckenzie (X Factor) and Natasha Stewart (Ella Eyre/Rita Ora). As a producer, Rik has an extensive portfolio of experience. He has written movie soundtracks, advertisements, trailers and has released records internationally.


Other achievements include being published in the history of music in Bradford for his work with ‘The Forge’ and has toured Europe and Japan with ‘Xylo'. Now settled in London, Rik regularly plays in the south-east as part of an acoustic duo and function band ‘The Covered’. Using 15 years of playing and teaching experience, he is hoping to inspire a new generation of musicians.

Dennie Elvie - Piano, Clarinet & Violin (peripatetic school lessons only)

Dennis began learning music when in primary school and started, by receiving violin tuition. After winning a scholarship at the age of 12, he attended Trinity College of Music, London on Saturdays, where he was also fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to learn the piano and general musicianship under the direction of Ken Paige. After 6 years at Trinity, Dennis became a full time student at the same establishment and attained an LTCL on the violin, an LTCL on the piano (under the direction of Simon Young) and a First Class Hons. GTCL qualification. Following this, he studied at the University of London, Institute of Education where he attained an MTC teaching qualification and several years later, a PDME.


During his time at Trinity, Dennis became very interested in jazz and pop and began performing throughout London and the South East. He has since performed thousands of gigs as a soloist, in bands and in duos, at a wide variety of venues in the UK and abroad, including at a Prince Charles Garden Party, on a plane, on ships and several times on BBC radio, BBC TV and Sky TV.

Dennis is also a keen composer and has had his works performed at numerous venues, including the Dominion Theatre, London and on national radio.

Marlene Beahan - Piano & Vocals (peripatetic school lessons only)

Born into a musical family, Marlene has been a professional pianist and singer since 1989 and boasts nearly 30 years’ experience! Marlene’s passion was inspired by her father who was a professional violinist, bandleader and singer - so she was introduced to singing at a young age. By 10 Marlene had learnt to play the piano and studied both classical and contemporary music, she then went on to study singing at Stockholm's High School for Music and with a Swedish opera singer specialising in technique and voice projection.

Over the span of her career Marlene has performed professionally as a piano bar pianist and singer and in a duo - touring has taken her to Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Shanghai, Marrakech, Abu Dhabi, Monte Carlo, Egypt and Madeira. Deciding to share he knowledge, Marlene turned her hand to teaching and has over 10 years teaching experience in schools, colleges and an independent tuition; she also holds a Level 5 diploma in Education and Training. Marlene thoroughly enjoys her teaching work, but also still performs as a pianist and singer across the UK.

Michael Whiteman - Drums (peripatetic school lessons only)

An experienced musician, Michael has been playing and teaching drums and percussion for over 20 years. He is a versatile performer, who has played with both orchestras and smaller ensembles, as well as jazz bands and varied styles of popular music – such as rock, blues, pop, ska, reggae, funk, soul and disco. Michael studied music at Kingston University before beginning a varied career around his passion. He has worked on stages, in recording studios and taught in schools. An ardent musician, Michael also plays guitar and piano and enjoys singing and writing music. He brings enthusiasm and professionalism to his lessons and is dedicated to providing a practical student experience where pupils are inspired to play.
